Well obviously I hear you cry!! Well Shame on you I holla back with these 2010 black adoption statistics toboot …
Only 3% of Black Children Adopted as too few Black Adopters Come Forward
Black and Asian children on average wait 3 times longer than white children for an adoptive family Caribbean and African Heritage children placed into care = 850
Dual heritage/mixed race children placed into care = 860
Not enough media attention about black children that need adopting?
I tried to find a couples story online about adoption and all I could find is this 2009 take which is probably one of many reasons why there is so few black people adopting, various medians have to be distributed in order to get the message out there!!
Why are there so many black children in the adoption cycle?
That should really be the question if I am being honest, why can’t the community cope with bringing up their own children without placing them in care? I don’t know but I do know 4 people who are in there 30’s , who say that they were placed into care when they was younger and brought up in part by white people. Why isn’t their support for families before it gets to the fostering stage, maybe there is enough support but it isn’t the right type of support again I am just putting it out there as obviously the cycle need to change!!
What can you do to change black children adoption rates?
